It’s another non-fiction book! And, man, this one is filled with so many awesome facts! And I have so many What If You Had an Animal Nose activities for you!
Did you know that warthogs greet each other by bumping their noses together? Or did you know that rhinos are not born with horns but once they start growing they never stop? And a cottontail rabbit wiggles it’s nose not just to smell but also when it’s interested or excited? Kind of like a dog’s tail!
Depending on the age of your child, the book could be read in different sections as well or read a few pages at a time. It might be a lot for one sitting!
I encourage you to grab a blanket and find a comfy spot and enjoy this book together with your Little One!
But, as always, feel free to watch me read it. It is a much longer book so I encourage you to pause at any point and come back to the book later!
Roll, Think and Talk
That’s right. Grab that die or the app on your phone and download this quick, FREE printable to start a book discussion with your child. There’s just something about a child rolling dice that makes everything more fun…even answering questions!
Be the Nose!
Grab some string, crayons and one of these noses and….be the nose! Can you guess which animal he is? Hint: They greet each other with nose to nose bumps. He’s a…..warthog!
Below you can grab five of the noses for FREE. Which animal will your child want to be?!
If you are feeling really inspired and want to work on writing or research skills, check this out. Liam actually enjoyed picking out his favorite fact about warthogs and writing about it! And, yes, I did just say he LIKED WRITING IT.
Nose Videos
I love books. And I love learning from books. And I love looking at pictures in books. But I also love videos. Check out this video that teaches a little bit more about some weird animal noses!
Eat Some Noses
My youngest will eat any snack set before him. My oldest will as well but his attention span has now made that harder. Yet, if he has a FUN snack he seems to be able to focus in and enjoy his snack more.
The downfall to these next few snacks is that he doesn’t like bananas. And even my cute attempt at an elephant didn’t encourage him to fall in love with them. So, with a smile and a giggle, we gave his snack to his brother and grabbed him some strawberries.
I hope you’re Little One’s will enjoy one of these snacks and think about the animals in this week’s book!
Read Other Stories in the Series
I think my brain may hurt just a bit from all that we learned just reading this one book. I can only imagine what all we’d learn if we read all of these. But, he’s requesting some more, and how can I say no to a child who wants to read a book to learn?!
