Snowballs soaring through the air. Snowmen with their cute button noses. Kids giggling. Hot chocolate in my hand while Liam and Tippet frolic.
That is NOT how our first outing in the Bozeman snow went. In fact, it was quite opposite.
Liam is so excited about all the snow. He just keeps saying “No! No!” or “Noman?!” So, I figured why not try and venture out into the snow while Matt’s at work. The only thing stopping me was that I can’t find his snowsuit I swore I’d packed and he currently has no snow boots.
But, I decided to make it work. I just layered him up with a pair of sweatpants and jeans, doubled up his socks, and tied plastic bags over his boots. You heard that right. I’m sure Matt would have stopped me if he hadn’t been at work! But, anything to get the boy to his snow!
So after getting dressed in my snowman suit and boots, I hunted down our hats and gloves and got ready to head out. I was planning on leaving Tippet inside but Liam was grabbing for her leash so I couldn’t resist.
Out we went. Liam stood smiling as I took his picture and looked around in awe. Tippet was dying to get off her leash. And we set out on our walk. Five steps into our walk, Liam starts yelling “Mommy!” and holding his hands up. So I pick him up and trudge on. This is no easy walk. I can’t say how many inches of snow we were walking through but it was enough to make me tired carrying him and the dog pulling me. Not even to the end of the road, I put Liam down and turn around and see Tippet pooping in a snow pile. Having nothing with me, I paniced and kicked some snow on top as Liam is yelling, “Mommy!”
Finally making it to the end of the road, we crossed the street with my plan of seeing the frozen pond and letting Liam and Tippet romp in the snow. Not even a step over the curb I put Liam down and he starts yelling. I turn around and he’s lost not one but two gloves.
After a few failed attempts, I called my losses and we all headed back to the apartment.
But not before Tippet decides to poop again. (Though by this time I have passed one of those doggie stations and gotten a bag.) So I pick it up. As I’m carrying Liam and this bag of poop, Tippet decides to give me a big pull making the poop bag fly open…poop flying in all directions. OK, it mainly fell at my feet but it made it feel like years before we made it back inside!
**This was three days ago, and so, I can say with confidence that going out is MUCH easier now!**
