Crayons on the wall? Gone. Water spots? Gone. Scuff marks from who knows what? Gone!
These Magic Erasers are just that. Magic. I have heard about them for years being a teacher. We’ve even had teachers put them on their school supply list. But I’d never used one. Had I known the true powers of these small, feather-like, white blocks I would have had less minor heart attacks at every scuff and mark on my walls over the years.
What are some of these stains on my walls anyway? I don’t even want to know.
Simply wet the block, ring it out and scrub. And all those marks are suddenly just gone.
I will never…let me repeat…NEVER…not have
these in my house again.
So I spent a good hour this weekend wetting, ringing and scrubbing with these magic blocks all over my house. My walls looked GREAT. Inside, I was cursing myself for never knowing about these before but making a promise to myself to never not have them again.
I really could have used it when we were on vacation over Memorial Day and Liam decided to take a blue and red crayon to the wall right beside the front door. There was no denying that I would have to try and clean it off. I knew I needed a magic eraser but we were over an hour away from any store. So, I did what any adult does these days when looking for answers. I took to Google. Google told me to spread mayonnaise all over the marks, let it sit and then scrub. And it worked! But what Google didn’t take into consideration was that these crayon marks were on knock-down textured walls. So off came the crayon….and the plaster!
So, at the end of the weekend I had these clean, smudge free walls (and doors!). Now, there were holes that had been patched from various things and the plan was to retouch all of those spots with the paint that was in the storage room.
Let me take you on a quick trip through our Sunday painting experience.
Plan 1: Touch up paint in kitchen. Grabbed the paint and touched up the only spot in the kitchen…but wait! That green is not the kitchen green it’s the bedroom green.
New Plan 1: Touch up paint in bedroom. Check!
Plan 2: Find the real paint for kitchen and touch up the one spot. Check!
Plan 3: Touch up Family Room. Hold up! The paint that specifically is for that room is more yellow than tan and doesn’t match. Maybe it is old? Head to the store that it was bought from and mix up a new gallon. Come back. Try again. Same WRONG color!
This is the same WRONG color of the Family Room, hallway and bathroom.
So now we are REPAINTING the Family Room, hallway and bathroom…even though they were MAGICALLY already cleaned.
Oh the joys of selling a house…
