Another Montana weekend. Another adventure.
Honestly, this summer we haven’t ventured too far from Bozeman. Lake still isn’t the best traveler so we’ve stuck pretty close. We did do a weekend trip to the town of Philipsburg a few weeks ago, which was about three hours away. It was one of those trips that was fun but not much went as planned.
There is an old candy shop in Philipsburg. It is closed on Saturdays.
We were going to go see an old, true ghost town (Granite Ghost Town). I made Matt turn around because the road got so steep. And by road I mean gravel path.
Our dog, Tippet, got so anxious where she was staying that she pulled out her own tooth.
Matt was going to fish but the weather didn’t cooperate so that was cut short.
We were going to see a rodeo but Matt came down with a migraine.
I was going to drive us back but Lake wouldn’t stop crying so Matt had to drive with his splitting headache.
But the highlights were seeing this very old town and going to some of its museums, shops and restaurants and doing some gem mining (Liam thought it was “the coolest”).
We also went on Sunday to a rodeo in the nearby town of Drummond which is much smaller than Philipsburg. The parade was over in ten minutes but I think Liam might have gotten more candy than he did on Halloween. They just kept throwing it out in heaping handfuls!
And Liam’s highlight, as always, was staying and swimming in a hotel.
While the trip may not have followed our itinerary, we had a good time. Sometimes it’s nice just to get away from the house where there is always something that needs to be done and just enjoy family.
